The long-awaited CRVL Volleyball league is set to kick off this weekend, and fans are eagerly anticipating the start of the season. The Pre-season Tournament, which served as the official league opener, ended on the 6th of April with fireworks and pleasant surprises. It was a spectacle to behold.
The first match of the season will feature the defending champions, Wolves, taking on the newcomers, Wolves Aces, at Bingu National Stadium (BNS) Courts from 9 am. Both teams are gearing up for an intense competition as they strive to impress. During the Pre-season Tournament, Wolves and Aces had an intense match that ended with a 3-1 score, in favour of Wolves. This proves that they both mean business. Although Wolves had to rely on their experiences to defeat Aces, they will be looking at their top players, Griffin “Gringo” Lwazi, Ken Kasasi, and Dalie, to inspire them and help them win maximum points.
In another match this weekend, Lilongwe Spikers, the 2024 Pre-season Champions, will travel to Airborne in Salima for a thrilling battle with Parachute Battalion. During the Pre-season Tournament, Para beat Spikers 3- sets to 2. This upcoming match promises to be equally exciting with many powerful spikes and exciting rallies. On paper, this is the match of the first round of games and our fans at Airborne must be rubbing their hands together in anticipation of hosting, what promises to be a fiercely contested battle. After finishing as runner-up last season, Spikers would want to start the season strong and build on their Pre-season tournament success to be the early pacesetters and establish themselves as serious contenders.
With the league now officially underway, fans can look forward to several months of thrilling volleyball action. The coming weeks will undoubtedly see some intense battles on the court, as teams fight for supremacy. Who will come out on top? Only time will tell.
